What a second brain is (and why most die)
A second brain is a trusted place outside your head for ideas, decisions, projects and references. The idea comes from Tiago Forte's Building a Second Brain.
Most second brains die because notes pile up and nobody re-reads them. The fix: let Claude read them for you. Your notes are plain markdown files. Claude Code can open, search and write those files, so your vault becomes context Claude uses every day.
The pair
- Obsidian makes notes readable for you (links, search, graph view).
- Claude Code makes them useful to a machine (summaries, answers, updates).
PARA in one minute
- 01 Projects: things with a finish line (launch a website).
- 02 Areas: ongoing responsibilities (health, finances, clients).
- 03 Resources: topics you collect (AI tools, recipes).
- 04 Archive: finished or paused things.
Plus 00 Inbox for quick captures and memory/ for facts Claude should always know.
