Lesson 1 · 12 min · Windows
Run Claude without typing: claude -p
claude -p "..." runs one prompt and exits. That's the building block for every automation.
claude -p "Read memory/ and 01-Projects/. List the 3 most urgent next actions."Let it write files, safely
By default Claude asks permission. For a scheduled job nobody is there to click, so allow only what the job needs:
claude -p "Sort 00-Inbox into PARA folders and log what moved in daily/today.md" --permission-mode acceptEditsacceptEdits lets it edit files in the folder but still blocks other commands. Never use a mode that skips all permissions on a folder you care about.
Save the prompt in a file
Long prompts are easier to manage as files:
cd $HOME\second-brain
mkdir automations
notepad automations\morning.md
Get-Content automations\morning.md -Raw | claude -p --permission-mode acceptEditsTest every automation by hand at least twice before scheduling it.
